They arealso required to restrict or permit linear or rotational movementin the horizontal plane. Where horizontal movement is restrictedthe horizontal forces will be transferred through the bearing tothe lower structure. Bearings are available in carbon steel asstandard, and in stainless steel for applications where corrosionis a potential problem or life cycle costing benefits are sought.As standard KPC bearings are designed to meet therequirements of BS 5400 : Section 9.1 and 9.2: 1983
